About Me

My name is David Gotz and I am a research scientist at the T. J. Watson Research Center at IBM Research. My research interests include multimedia, graphics, visualization, and networking.

I received my Ph.D. from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2005 where I explored scalable and adaptive streaming technologies for non-linear media. Prior to my Ph.D. studies, I received my MS in Computer Science from UNC-Chapel Hill in 2001. I graduated with highest honors from Georgia Tech in 1999 where I majored in Computer Science and received a certificate in Economics.

I'm married to a wonderful woman named Anne who, as a social worker, has dedicated her life to those less fortunate. She consumes most of my spare time, but in the rest I like to hike, travel, play soccer, read and above all sleep.
